Yes, we did have quite a bit of damage in fact Navarre Beach and Pensacola are still rebuilding. We're not a bad off as those in Mississippi or New Orleans. The hotel on Navarre Beach has not been rebuilt but we are recovering. Hope they will visit again.

I agree with Iggy. Bond is and should always be "British" without trying to Americanize him. That is part of the appeal of Bond worldwide.

Hi BondFan - thanks for the message.

Yes Bond is very much a cultural institution in the UK. There are many books written about how the success of Fleming's novels, before they made it to your shores, is attributable to their role in softening the blow to the British psyche after we bankrupted ourselves fighting WWII and saw our Empire and global influence in decline in the Fifties. Then the films came along and celebrated all that was Great about Britain in the Sixties - music, fashion, technology, cars etc. Pre-video, the screening of a Bond film on TV would be a national event and was a Christmas Day tradition - the family would sit down to watch Bond after Christmas Dinner and The Queen's Speech.

We see them very much as British films. Although the films are backed by an American studio and have American producers, they are largely filmed in Britain and by a British crew and mainly British cast and so have (I think deliberately) maintained a British look and feel and sense of humour.

There are times when the films have tried too hard to appeal to US audiences through the introduction of Americanisms in the script (GE for example - no Brit would ever say 'last call' - we'd say 'last orders'. DAD - what was the point of the Michael Madsen character? LTK - would have made more sense if it had retained its original title License Revoked). Personally those things are unnecessary and insult American and British audiences alike. They imply that you can't relate to things outside your own country, whilst they spoil our enjoyment by being obvious reminders that we're watching a movie and also imply that the American audience is somehow more important.

One thing I really like about the reboot is the relationship between Leiter and Bond and their little barbed digs about each other's countries. I think it captures how we, on both sides of the pond, have much in common yet are very different.

But at the end of the day, who doesn't love escapism, action and adventure? And if the hero happens to be British, then we aren't going to complain over here!

What do you think?

Yes I have seen Quatum Of Solace , good movie , yet it's not as long as the others. And yes Casino Royale was the best for Danial Craig .

Both were good. Both have action but it is my opinion that Solace is better.

Australia gets the same version as the UK which I assume is the same as the USA.
just saw Quantum of Solace and thoroughly enjoyed it. Still think that Casino Royale is the best
